Q. BYTHEWAY (PLUMBING & HEATING) are plumbing and lead roofing contractors established in 1982 by Mr.Quinn.J.Bytheway AIPHE RP, a registered plumber with the Institute of Plumbing & Heating Engineers and an elected Member of Council of the Lead Contractors Association.

The company has always endeavoured to provide a service of unsurpassed quality, employing only skilled craftsmen. Recognised from early years as a highly competent lead roofing specialist, we have completed many successful projects for Conservation Trusts, Local Authorities, Parish Councils, Commercial Clients, Private Individuals and others as both main and sub-contractor. Examples of our work can be seen as far afield as northern Europe and North America, as well as throughout the UK.

Our expertise in the use of lead extends from traditional bossing and casting techniques with sand cast lead, to modern welding methods using rolled lead sheet to BSEN 12588: 1999. We also manufacture many items in our workshop alongside an on-site installation service. As a member of the Lead Contractors Association with the highest attainable grading, the experience to provide a Design and Consultancy Service to architects and building contractors has developed a growing area of business. Detail design can be a major cause of problems during a project. Our ability to design and specify suitable materials for an application assists in alleviating some of the burden from Architects and Specifiers, whilst ensuring total compliance with L.S.A. guidelines and Codes of Practice to BS 6915.

We carry full employer and public liability insurance, and take our responsibilities regarding Health and Safety issues very seriously. Relevant aspects of CDM and COSSH in the construction field are incorporated into our work ethic, with regular toolbox talks being part of our efforts to ensure safe working practices.

Due to our association with metal roofing, enquiries are often received specifying the use of other sheet metals. Copper, TCS, zinc and pewter have all been employed in numerous situations from roofing and cladding, to more unusual applications such as shower enclosures, bar tops, radiation shields and even bird tables.
